As you walk alongside the Riverwalk and your eyes gaze at the Savannah River you can easily see the steamboats of old slowly making their way down the moving waters. The trees you pass here bear the wear of many years and many stories. In the warm summer breeze, rows of flags waving above your head pay tribute to the many identities comprising the city of Augusta, Georgia. As Augusta continues to grow as a world-renowned city, we cannot forget its unique history. From the very beginning the Savannah River has been the city’s lifeline: the key reason Augusta was founded.
